A short walk from the Penang Snake Temple is where the newly opened Tang Xiao Loong 唐小龙 located at (next to OO White Coffee Snake Temple). The Chinese restaurant occupies a huge lot and has quite an impressive interior decor. The restaurant is air-conditioned with well-partitioned seats, offering good privacy to diners. In the mornings, the restaurant offers a Dim Sum menu (with some stir fries and noodle options); and Hot Pot in the evenings. The Dim Sum menu is extensive with reasonable prices; a place worth checking out.
The Dim Sum menu is pretty 'local' so it should be safe to bring seniors or young children. All of our orders were served to us piping hot; some plus and some did not quite hit the spot. We recommend going for the basic and classic ones like Fish Balls, Siew Mai and Har Kaw... which did not go wrong. The special ones like the Specialty Pancake, Matsutake Buns and Scallion Oil Noodle were slightly off the beaten track. The Specialty Pancake carried an odd sweetness while the Matsutake Buns had a peculiar filling. The Scallion Oil Noodle was overcooked and overly slouchy. The rest of the Dim Sum dishes were pretty decent and given the prices; this place is worth a try.
