The newly opened Sous Vide Urban Cafe at New World Park is probably one of the cafes with most shareholders, it uses the concept crowdfunding and provides a community space for its guests/ members to mingle/ dine-in. There are small function rooms available to host meetings or gatherings either. The name- Sous Vide sure rings a bell, while most items on the menu are Sous Vide related; not all dishes are cooked using that method. Probably in soft-launch period, the menu is fairly small and there are plenty of rooms for improvements as far as food quality is concerned.
While I was excited to try the seemingly perfect-poached Egg, I was taken aback by the sliver of Smoked Salmon and thick, hard Baguette instead of soft, fluffy English Muffins. The flavor-combination was of course safe but the undesirable texture of the Baguette ruined the overall experience, especially when cutting the Baguette becomes a strenuous activity.
The disappointment did not stop there. The Quattro Funghi Bacon Aglio Olio was supposedly one of the best-sellers in Sous Vide Urban Cafe. But it went wrong in many ways. The Spaghetti was overcooked, though not slouchy but far from being al-dente. It was over seasoned (with Salt) as well, condiments like pickled Olives, Capers, Sundried Tomatoes and Bacon were all heavily salted... too salty that I had to give up on this dish (after a few bites). The relief was the sous-vide Egg, though had not done much in its aid in this dish.
